Accessibility Statement

At The Rug Company, we are dedicated to ensuring our website is accessible for all individuals, regardless of their abilities. We are currently working towards the standards set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level. To achieve this goal, we strive to adhere as closely as possible to the accessibility requirements set forth by the United Kingdom (UK), European Union (EU), United States (US), and the rest of the world. Our commitment extends to following the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level. These guidelines serve as a comprehensive framework for making web content accessible to individuals with a wide array of disabilities, including blindness, motor impairments, visual impairments, cognitive disabilities, and more.

We have ensured that users can enhance their experience by customising our website to suit their needs, this includes:

Our website utilises various technologies designed to enhance accessibility. We have implemented an accessibility interface that allows individuals with specific disabilities to customise the website’s user interface (UI) according to their personal needs.
Furthermore, our website incorporates an AI-based application that continuously runs in the background, optimising the accessibility level of the site. This application remediates the website’s HTML, adapting its functionality and behaviour for screen-readers used by blind users and keyboard functions utilised by individuals with motor impairments.
Alternative text descriptions have been added to most of our visual content and we are actively working to improve and expand this for all images.
Keyboard navigation is partially supported on our website, but we are taking steps towards full keyboard operability.
While colour contrast has been considered throughout the design of our website, we are reviewing our colour palettes to increase legibility.
We recognise the importance of screen reader compatibility for visually impaired users and are ensuring this is optimised throughout the website.

To ensure that every user can experience our website to the fullest, we have taken the following actions:

We have conducted an accessibility audit of our website and are actively working to address any issues to enhance accessibility.
Our development team have been trained on accessibility best practices to ensure future updates and enhancements align with the highest standards.
We are collaborating with accessibility experts to regularly evaluate our website and guide our ongoing efforts towards achieving ADA compliance.

While we are taking the necessary steps to make our website accessible for all, we understand the importance of regularly reviewing and evolving our efforts. As we continue our journey with ADA compliance, we appreciate your patience and encourage your feedback to ensure that our endeavours are prioritised.
